The White Whale Information

Sitting just off the waterfront at 3580 Bayview St in Seaford, The White Whale has the kind of easygoing charm that immediately makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto a local favorite rather than a tourist stop. The location alone does a lot of the talking, with salty air drifting in and boats passing by, but it’s the combination of atmosphere, menu, and genuinely warm service that keeps people coming back-and the steady stream of positive reviews online seems to back that up.

The menu leans heavily into coastal comfort food, and it does so with confidence. Seafood is clearly the star here, with dishes like buttery lobster rolls, crisp fried calamari, and generously portioned fish and chips showing up on nearly every table. On a recent visit, the grilled shrimp tacos stood out, packed with flavor and balanced by a light, fresh slaw that didn’t overpower the seafood. There’s also enough variety to keep non-seafood eaters happy, from juicy burgers to classic American fare, making it a solid choice for mixed groups.

What really elevates the experience is how thoughtfully everything is put together. The ingredients taste fresh, the plating is simple but appealing, and portions feel fair for the price point, especially considering the waterfront setting. While it’s not aiming for fine dining, there’s a clear attention to detail that suggests the kitchen takes pride in what it sends out. That said, during peak hours, the kitchen can slow down a bit, something a few diners have noted, though the laid-back vibe makes the wait feel less frustrating.

The atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and lively. Inside, you’ll find a relaxed dining room with nautical touches that don’t feel overdone, while the outdoor seating is where the place really shines, especially on warmer evenings. It’s the kind of spot where conversations linger, drinks last a little longer, and no one seems in a rush to leave.

Service here feels personal in a way that’s becoming increasingly rare. Staff are attentive without hovering, quick to offer recommendations, and genuinely friendly. It’s clear they’re used to regulars but still make first-timers feel just as welcome, which says a lot about the overall culture of the place.

For anyone exploring the Seaford area or just looking for a dependable waterfront meal with a relaxed vibe, this spot manages to deliver a well-rounded dining experience that feels both easy and memorable.

What People's Say About Place

My husband and I went here this past Friday at 5:00 and I was taken back how beautiful the place was done over. Not too noisy and seating was a very nice booth. We ordered the French Onion soup and it was delicious. I ordered the fish and chips and I was very disappointed. It came to the table in a basket and it looked like it was crispy but the coating on the fish was soggy and no taste. The fries were good. My husband had the linguine with clam sauce and a few of the clams weren’t opened.

Ate at the restaurant back in July 2025. They were struggling. Decided to try it again tonight. We met Michael the manager. He has this place dialed in. The food was off the hook. Drinks outstanding. The staff very attentive. I had to go outside to check the sign make sure I was in the right place. Atmosphere was great and the establishment was family friendly. Rumor has it they'll be offering brunch in three weeks. I plan to return with my sister and brother in law. I'm happy to report the White Whale is back and better than ever. Well done Michael!!!

We hosted a party of 30 with a pre-arranged menu, and the entire experience was outstanding. Everything was included—appetizers, drinks, entrée, dessert, and coffee—which made planning seamless and stress-free. The staff was attentive, professional, and well-organized, ensuring our large group was taken care of without any delays. The food was excellent from start to finish, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Best of all, they worked comfortably within our budget without sacrificing quality or service. We highly recommend for private events or large group celebrations. Thank you for making our event special

So glad the White Whale in Seaford has re-opened. We’ve already been back three times. The manager is always super friendly, and attentive, and makes you feel welcomed. Our waitress, Jen, has been on her game every single visit. My wife absolutely loves the French Onion soup, and the steak I had last night was cooked to perfection - honestly one of the best I’ve had in a long time. ... Definitely recommend checking it out!

The White Whale has a cozy and very comfortable atmosphere. Service was excellent- Jenny is a fantastic waitress Michael The maître D- super personality and very welcoming. Food has been excellent. Every time we have been there and a special note that their lobster bisque is the best we have ever had anywhere on Long Island.! Hats off to the chef and you must definitely try it out because it is our go to spot! You will not be disappointed.

I came here with my wife and two young kids on a weeknight for a snack and a drink. The atmosphere is so welcoming, everyone was very kind to my family. The German style soft pretzel saved my marriage - two delicious homemade pretzels, one cup of mustard, one ranch. Perfect for splitting with that special someone or just downing entirely yourself. Our server, Jennifer, took excellent care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. This is definitely our new spot for everything, unwinding after a long day, celebrating the wins, having a little treat. Will be back.

Came in late for drinks and apps. Had a glass of wine with mozzarella sticks and it was JUST what I needed. Everyone was so friendly and made sure we were taken care of. Definitely will be back! Edit: returned for the lunch special and was so pleased! It’s the perfect amount of food for lunch. I love that I got to try a couple menu items for a reasonable price and the food was delicious. The chicken sandwich “ate” or whatever the kids are saying lately. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, definitely don’t skip this place!

Just left the restaurant and felt compelled to write a review. The ambience was perfect tonight--super brisk outside but the seat next to the fireplace with a seasonal cocktail in hand warmed me up immediately! The service (waitresses, hostess and busboys) was impeccable. Food, the main draw, was delicious! We started with salads which were generous portions loaded with fresh ingredients. For the mains, we had a fra diavolo seafood pasta and fish tacos--both super fresh and well prepared with just the right amount of kick in the fra diavolo. Looking forward to going back again soon. Hope this place does well because summer visits to that spot will be incredible!
